21STE ZYDECO ZITY FESTIVAL 2013 ..
SO MUCH FUN JAMMED IN ONLY 3 DAYS

The 2013 edition of our Zydeco Zity festival was one with variation in music and styles where each and everyone in the Cajun and Zydeco seen could find something of their taste. From the Cajun walz to the real Louisiana Zydeco beats, from French, English and … yes even Dutch. This year we were very lucky about the weather witch made it possible to work from three stages and the outside venue was very popular … and where you were, there was always a bar close by.

Some remarkable things I saw, heard and experienced

Our French band Pain d’Mais attracted all the nationals after the dance work shop on Sunday were they had a sort of French private party. Nice to see them all over here, although they have a long way to go before they outnumber the Dutch in Saulieu. Chanky Chank is actually the rebirth of a 25-year-old group that decided to give it a go one more time. After I saw them in Bristol two years ago I was glad to see them on stage in Raamsdonksveer.

Des Fais Do Do was finely able to get all the guys together to be present at our annual party. Nice to hear they are thinking again about organizing a night at Winterswijk in the near future. Down Town Cajun Band were also present again. To be able to announce them on stage at had to sit on Ron van Doorneveld’s knee because all the microphones on the stage were on their level (sitting), I wonder how long it will take before they gone record a new CD. If know an excellent location and a possible title: « Inclus dans la Carrière ».

Saturday there was a real Mardi Grass Party at Zydeco Zity in the afternoon complete with a Brass Band. Bands playing that afternoon were the Red Kidney Beans (just for dinner time) and Zydeco fever had the opportunity to show their new look and (voodoo) sound.

Front Row Zydeco is still extending their show after they started as special guest a couple of years ago at the festival. With a couple of shows under the belt in the U.K and France they will soon come up with their debut album. From what I heard in the audience they are getting better and better.

River Zydeco Band is enjoying their home party very much and so was the audience. They added some friends in the mixture, a sort of extension of last years Zydeco Tribute Band. And there was more.
